What is oxytocin? It is a hormone that is produced when we are in any kind of pleasure. It is produced when we are spending time with people we love, getting a hug, physical touch, a massage, spending intimate time with our partners and nursing babies.
Oxytocin is a direct counter hormone to the stress hormone cortisol. When Cortisol comes in and stays there because we are regularly running at a low level of stress, it weakens our immune system, steals our reproductive hormones (estrogen and progesterone) and wreaks havoc on our gut health.

Take Time To Stretch
After your do any form of exercise, take some time to stretch. Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, which we need to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Ligaments, muscles and tendons work hard every day to keep our bodies healthy. To maximize the exercise benefits, we need to take 10 minutes (or more if you have the time) to pamper yourself a bit with stretching.
Stretching increases blood flow to the muscles which brings you into a relaxed state and results in a healthier you. With this comes reduced stress and a calmer mind. In addition, the immune function is strengthened when the body and mind are calm.
